Feels like your visit's been too short me old mate. But I understand the need to get back to your life in Vancouver. Its been a heck of a buzz having you around man! As always, when an old buddy visits from afar, its a catalyst for the ones who are nearby to get together. This is what my old buddy and neighbour Louis (the dude far left in the pic) had to say in my guest book: 5th September 2007: Truly a pleasure seeing you and your family during my visit. Its amazing that although its been 23 years, it felt like time has stood still picking up from where we left off. May the years ahead be filled with great joys and perpetual blessings. I was too tied up to attend the conference last weekend but I caught the opening ceremony where they played a video which really touched me. I'll post it once I've uploaded a copy of it. The Brunei Adventure Race 2007 mini teaser this morning was a resounding success. Over 80 people turned up to try out the race and I think they got what they came for... ADRENALINE! It was totally action-packed from start to finish! Age was definitely not a factor this morning cos a team of 40 somethings actually beat many of the other younger teams to grab fifth place! Congratulations to the BAR 2007 team on a job very very well-done! I can't wait for the actual race in November!! Much more pics here .

Today's JC session welcomed the arrival of our flip-it jumbos , a cool flash accessory which as can be seen from the pics above, makes a big difference in the way photos will turn out using the speedlight. I think it diffuses light more efficiently than the Lightsphere , but then thats just me. The morning was spent playing with the new toy... Nice.... very nice... Tks hjzul for organizing the group buy! Oh, and I met a friend of Jan's , Colin Quek , who walked up and introduced himself. Nice to meet you dude, and I'm sure I'll run into you at the office! I like your pics btw! Heheh!

The gang and I braved the typhoon tail last night and gathered at the newly opened MOD Cafe on Jalan Jerudong last night. The crowd at the restaurant was testament to the fact that Bruneians will brave almost anything for a 50% discount on their meal! The place was jam-packed and parking was almost impossible. Good thing da sista made reservations earlier. As we settled in to our table, a quick gaze around gave me the sense that we were in for a loooong night. Tables were left uncleared, people were left standing at the front counter, and eventually turned away for lack of reservations. The service staff, including the owner, were clearly out of their element and unprepared for the hungry hordes coming in for their half-priced feast! Some of the customers even walked out in a huff when the wait for their orders proved unbearable (kalau omputih nda pulang batah tu rasanya menunggu 'sal bisdia panjang becerita heheh!). Perhaps it would not be fair to judge the service at this junctur...

4th of July , to all Americans signifies their Independence Day. But to da missus and I, its the date we tied the knot. Looking through our wedding album, I can't help but think what the album would've looked like had we tied the knot at the present moment, with the prevalence of photojournalistic style and such wonderfully creative photogs in the market :) Happy Anniversary Cinta... Above are pictures of my Canadian biker chick friend Vanessa and her gang. Vanessa is an old friend from the early days of #Brunei on IRC. How she ended up in channel #Brunei I have no idea, but she did, and she won the hearts of many of us by being a regular on the channel. In fact, she was one of the early channel #Brunei operators. I actually visited her when I was in Montreal for work. On her apartment wall, she had a list of frequently used Bruneian malay terms in the channel which she translated into French as a reference list which allowed her to carry out a conversation in Brunei malay with anyone on the channel! She actually came across as being Bruneian! Amazing stuff! See you at the i-Center tomorrow nice and early! Good night...

My friend Rags always sends me these really thoughtful emails. Below is an example: The older I get, the more I enjoy Saturday mornings. Perhaps it's the quiet solitude that comes with being the first to rise, or maybe it's the unbounded joy of not having to be at work. Either way, the first few hours of a Saturday morning are most enjoyable. A few weeks ago, I was shuffling toward the basement ham-shack with a steaming cup of coffee in one hand and the morning paper in the other. What began as a typical Saturday morning turned into one of those lessons that life seems to hand you from time to time. The ice-cream cakes at Makcik Bakeshop are really good. Price also very reasonable at B$11.90 for a 1 pound cake (after discount). Today we tried the chocolate flavor and its just as good as the vanilla one we had for Nia's birthday , in chocolate of course. The birthday girl enjoyed her cake and so did everyone else! Selamat Malam!
